I just had this huge orange that Moms bought me a couple days ago. After peeling it, I saw that the peel was super thick and that the naked orange was a hell of a lot small than expected. This thought ties in with "The Wrapping vs. The Gift" from a couple days ago. This orange reminded me of the importance of going beyond the surface; beyond the shallow waters surrounding the existences of others. Get out into the deeper waters of the soul, the heart, the mind, where the true "catch" awaits.
My mind, now, goes to Luke 5:4-7, "When he had finished speaking, He said to Simon, “Put out into deep water, and let down the nets for a catch.” Simon answered, “Master, we’ve worked hard all night and haven’t caught anything. But because you say so, I will let down the nets.” When they had done so, they caught such a large number of fish that their nets began to break. So they signaled their partners in the other boat to come and help them, and they came and filled both boats so full that they began to sink." Fooling around with the shallows will never profit us that which our hearts and souls TRULY need.
When we fail to get to the hearts of people, we find ourselves disappointed like I was with this orange. I set an expectation, based on the outward appearance of the orange. BUT, I must admit, this orange was SO DARN DELICIOUS!! GEEZ!! I ate it super slow, just to savor each bite! The taste was much bigger than the size. Speaking of the orange, look at it this way. When you get to know that good person who you've wrongly judged based on their appearance, you will be just as excited about him or her, as I was about this sweet, sweet orange! Think about it! The peel is super bitter, while the orange inside is super sweet!! Yes Ma, I adjusted my insulin intake accordingly.
If we don't broaden our minds, understanding will always have a hard time getting in.
HAPPY THURSDAY!! I LOVE YOU ALL, EACH AND EVERY ONE!!!
