"When Solomon had finished the temple of the Lord and the royal palace, and had succeeded in carrying out all he had in mind to do in the temple of the Lord and in his own palace, the Lord appeared to him at night and said: 'I have heard your prayer and have chosen this place for myself as a temple for sacrifices. When I shut up the heavens so that there is no rain, or command locusts to devour the land or send a plague among my people, if my people, who are called by my name, will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and I will forgive their sin and will heal their land. Now my eyes will be open and my ears attentive to the prayers offered in this place. I have chosen and consecrated this temple so that my Name may be there forever. My eyes and my heart will always be there. As for you, if you walk before me faithfully as David your father did, and do all I command, and observe my decrees and laws, I will establish your royal throne, as I covenanted with David your father when I said, ‘You shall never fail to have a successor to rule over Israel. But if you turn away and forsake the decrees and commands I have given you and go off to serve other gods and worship them, then I will uproot Israel from my land, which I have given them, and will reject this temple I have consecrated for my Name. I will make it a byword and an object of ridicule among all peoples. This temple will become a heap of rubble. All who pass by will be appalled and say, ‘Why has the Lord done such a thing to this land and to this temple?’" (2 Chronicles 7:11-21)
Lord, I pray for our nation, our country, our people. I pray for every colorless, race-less, faction-less, soul standing under our flag. For you have made us to be Yours and Yours alone. Forgive us our trespasses against You, God. Forgive us for our worship of other gods, in our nation; the gods called money, capitalism, technology, racism, pride, and selfishness. Lord God, I pray that you touch our hearts with vision by which we can see clearly the detriment these false gods have brought upon our lives. Give us the courage to complete your command in Deuteronomy 12:3 when You said, "Break down their altars, smash their sacred stones and burn their asherah poles in the fire; cut down the idols of their gods and wipe out their names from those places." Lord, wipe out the rash of false prophets and pastors we suffer in so many communities. Help Your people to recognize the wool clad wolves when they appear. We cannot do any better for ourselves or for this country without You, God! Help the people of this great nation to remember You Lord, recall all the blessings that You've bestowed, and to understand Your Heart better and what Your Love dictates. You are great, Almighty God, and there is none greater to be found in the universe! I love you God. I praise you God! I ask these things of You, Lord, because I know for a fact that You are able. I've seen what You can do. It was traces of Your hand found in my heart, at 5 years old, on that operating table! It was your presence in my blood, at 14, when my blood sugar was high enough to kill me! It was Your grip that pulled me out of darkness and into the marvelous Light, You named Jesus in 1998! God, I know that You have the whole world in Your hands. Please hear my cry and the cries of all others who fear where this country is headed. God, I will not ask for President, in the way our ancestors did in pleading for a king. God, we need YOU to show up and show out! If You are to place another over this nation, we need YOU to literally tells us who YOU have chosen to bring peace and leadership to our country. God, WE NEED YOU!! Whomever is named the next leader of our nation, Lord let this Word be found in his or her heart: "Your servant is here among the people you have chosen, a great people, too numerous to count or number. So give your servant a discerning heart to govern your people and to distinguish between right and wrong. For who is able to govern this great people of yours?" May this Word be found in every heart of this place and be applied to the governing of our own individual hearts and households. We ALL need You in our lives God, even those who do not believe. YOU ARE GOD OF ALL!! I ask this and all things needed in Your Son, Jesus' name!! AMEN.
