As I thought about how brutal, cruel and atrocious such a thing is, I remembered images and illustrations of the Bible stories I saw as a young kid. These things would strike me hard in the chest where my heart rests. I just could not understand how humans could be this way. Now that I am older, have studied scriptures a good bit, and accepted Jesus as my Lord and Savior, I see why and I see how. Simply put, EVIL! There is such evil in this world, around us, and even in some of us. When we think about atrocities, we often think Holocaust, American Slavery, and genocide and ethnic cleansing around the world. Such has been going for thousands of years now.
This is how evil operates. Evil is what drives these things! Evil is real! Evil does anything and everything it can to destroy what God has created, what and whom God has blessed. Evil sets itself against God's Will in all ways possible, and when it has the chance, it does so, brutally. We see it all over the world, in the news, in media, etc. It's how evil prefers to operate. Some folks feel that evil is not so bad, as long as it is not bothering them, like the folks who know a woman or child, next door, is being beaten or abused, saying "It's none of my business." It's even like the folks that say, "Well, he/she did say they felt threatened." I won't spend too much time there.
Back to the Bible, think about Jesus Christ, God's Word made Man. He remained Good throughout His entire time with us on Earth. The good in Him could not be starved out of Him (Matthew 4:1-11). It could not be scared out of Him (Matthew 26:42). It couldn't even be brutally, cruelly, and atrociously beaten out of Him (John 19). To see, hear, and read of how brutal, cruel and atrocious it was when our Savior went through this, all I can thinks is this, "THIS is how much evil hates mankind!" This hatred burns even hotter toward those of who stand and say, "I believe that God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life."
Jesus said it Himself "You will be hated by everyone because of Me, but the one who stands firm to the end will be saved." A reality we don't speak much about in Church or in our Christian gatherings is the reality that evil truly hates us, to this extent, and will use the lost and servers of selfishness to act out against us. I mean, have you ever had someone to treat you with evil intent, and when you look into their eyes, it's as though they are possessed? I've seen it. Think about it. Satan is the king of pride and selfishness. If he can convince you to be full of pride and place yourself above all else, then you are a prime candidate to serve his plan.
Glancing over at our fully full trash can that needs to be emptied, I do not want to find my soul in God's hefty bag, headed to the incinerator described as a "Lake of fire" in Revelation 20. Evil will do all it can to break you, us, our societies down, by any means available. Evil wants you in hefty bag! Why? Misery loves company! There will be a battle between Good and Evil, on a day unknown. It may be today, tomorrow, or a million tomorrows from now. When that day does show, it will be your soul's allegiance that determines your position on the battlefield. Simply know that God Will Win!
"I saw heaven standing open and there before me was a white horse, whose rider is called Faithful and True. With justice he judges and wages war. His eyes are like blazing fire, and on his head are many crowns. He has a name written on him that no one knows but he himself. He is dressed in a robe dipped in blood, and his name is the Word of God. The armies of heaven were following him, riding on white horses and dressed in fine linen, white and clean. Coming out of his mouth is a sharp sword with which to strike down the nations. “He will rule them with an iron scepter.” He treads the winepress of the fury of the wrath of God Almighty. On his robe and on his thigh he has this name written:
king of kings and lord of lords.
And I saw an angel standing in the sun, who cried in a loud voice to all the birds flying in midair, “Come, gather together for the great supper of God, so that you may eat the flesh of kings, generals, and the mighty, of horses and their riders, and the flesh of all people, free and slave, great and small.” Then I saw the beast and the kings of the earth and their armies gathered together to wage war against the rider on the horse and his army. But the beast was captured, and with it the false prophet who had performed the signs on its behalf. With these signs he had deluded those who had received the mark of the beast and worshiped its image. The two of them were thrown alive into the fiery lake of burning sulfur. The rest were killed with the sword coming out of the mouth of the rider on the horse, and all the birds gorged themselves on their flesh." - Revelation 19:11-21 -
I am not sure why this message needed to come from me today, but those who have ears, please hear.......
Lord God, Conqueror of the evil one, thank you for this day and opportunity to see, read, and consume Your Word! I pray for the souls of all those I love and hold dear. I pray that You are found in each of them, God, through Your Son Jesus Christ. Even for those who have not yet been given the ears to hear, allow Your Word, it's importance, and its freeing power to permeate somehow. Draw them nearer to Jesus, as you did me years ago. We need you more than ever, in this day and age. Protect our kids, our spouses, friends and families Lord from the rampant evil of this world. Save us Lord, even from our own selves. We have nothing without You God. WE LOVE YOU, LORD! THANK YOU FOR JESUS!! THANK YOU FOR LIFE AND REPEATED CHANCES TO DO AND BE BETTER!! TAKE CARE OF US GOD!! IN JESUS' NAME, WE PRAY. AMEN!!
