A couple of days ago, I was thinking back to a writing of mine called, "Just A Man." Some of us believe that nothing has purpose until it is given a name. I can understand this mentality. One thing that I see, under the sun, is how we like to lump things and people into categories. This is lazy, though convenient. If I place you in a category, then all I have to do is treat you according to the blanket I've designed specifically for THAT box. In today's society, we call these boxes so many things:
These are just a few!! Believe me, there are tons more that we use. God deals with us collectively, as well as individually. Does He categorize? I think so, to an extent, yet our eternal futures are solely based on our INDIVIDUAL relationships with Him!
We, even after being made in His image and likeness, fail at this. We judge and condemn, based on labels we place on all these boxes we shove folks into. My mind goes immediately to my former father-in-law telling me, point blank, we are going to hell for leaving the Catholic Church. Imagine the loss of respect there. That's neither the first nor the last time I've been told that, by die-hard Catholics. I've even had some to treat me as though they never knew me, and as though they've forgotten my name. "PROTESTANT!!", they called me. LOL!! I will protest against any and all forms of ignorance, just so y'all know, no matter the denomination I find it in. Yes, it exists under ALL umbrellas.
I'll end this by sharing the notes I jotted down on Tuesday:
To be a real man is to be of God. Think about it; what the scripture says:
“Then God said, ‘Let Us make man in Our image, according to Our likeness…’”
It does not say, "let us make black man or white man." It does not say, "let us make Christian or Jew." It does not say, "let us make Baptist, Catholic, Episcopal, or even non-denominational." It certainly does not say, “let us make democrat or republican!”
It simply says, “LET US MAKE MAN!”
The divisions of mankind are self-created and self-inflicted.
Just a man, I am. Most of you know that I’ve had many experiences with religious/spiritual/imposing/awesome people, all while sitting with my coffee, Bible, and journal at Starbucks locations and coffee shops all over. One time, a very professional looking woman noticed me reading my Bible. She asked where I attended Church. I told her, “Our Lady of Fatima”. She responded, “That’s a Catholic church, right?” “Yes,” I answered. She then said, “I didn’t think you all read the Bible!” Yes, people, that’s what she said!! LOL! Wow! I remained silent after that and went back to reading, and eventually she realized I was done talking to her.
Don't put me in a box! I promise I'll disappoint!!
There is SO MUCH freedom to be had, simply by accepting the truth that God just made us to be HIS!! OH MY!! THINK ABOUT IT!! How did God respond to Moses' question; “Suppose I go to the Israelites and say to them, ‘The God of your fathers has sent me to you,’ and they ask me, ‘What is his name?’ Then what shall I tell them?" God said to Moses, “I am who I am. This is what you are to say to the Israelites: ‘I am has sent me to you." WOW!! Again, we were created in His image and likeness. All these names and categories by and in which we choose to live just muddy the waters of the GREATNESS God created us to be. As Peter Tosh said, "I am that I am , I am , I am, I am!" He also says in the same song, "I'm not in this world to live up to your expectation. Neither are you here to live up to mine." Anyway, "He who has ears, let him hear."
HAPPY THURSDAY!! I LOVE YOU ALL, VERY MUCH!!
I've seen and heard SO MUCH over the past week or so, from so many people. So many folks have so much to say about race, confederate flags, and gay marriage. Before, I get into my own personal rant about the absolute ignorance, stupidity, and jack assery of what I've witnessed in the past week or two, I want to share my thought as I drove home from work one day last week:
I'm leaning toward NOT calling myself a Christian out in public or in the world. I look at SO MANY Christians, Christian Ministers, and Christian Pastors in the world (or better yet, of the world) and I refuse to be recognized along side them. I refuse to be placed in the same category. Many of them are simply turds, covered in powdered sugar and honey. Once, you've gotten through the surface, you find crap and nothing worth having or desiring. You sure as the devil's home won't find the love of Jesus. Hell, I've even been called or seen as a "honeydripper", but I've vowed to only use such power for good and not evil.
I like to think that any time God addresses me, it's as, "My son." I know He addresses me as such. Even better, how about, "My son who believes in My Son." So many "so called" Christians have yet to experience the love of Christ, as HE intends it to flow through us. Too many of us haven't accepted it, because it requires turning our wills over to His. Too many of us haven't accepted it, because it requires that we love EVERYONE, flaws and all. We like to be able justify our ignorance, stupidity, and jack assery, by the Bible, but no one who TRULY experiences and lives by the love of Christ is able to hold on to such ignorance, stupidity, and jack assery. We sure as heaven, can't bring ourselves to truly hate anyone or anything that may live a lifestyle we don't necessarily agree with. Bottom line, the only authority to judge, truly judge a soul, graduate or condemn a soul, lies with JESUS CHRIST, who has been given ALL POWER & GLORY by GOD!! GOD ONLY!! Those of you out there that just can't help yourselves, WHO ARE YOU TO JUDGE??!! ARE YOU GOD??!!
The confederate flag.......yes it represents something many of us don't like. I'd like to keep it simple here. Hate, racism, etc, is a PEOPLE problem. It's an issue that lies in the hearts and minds of PEOPLE. Take down the flag, and then what? Will the hearts and minds of evil magically change? I've had my issues with that flag over the years, but at the same time, I have friends I love and who love the hell out of me, that may sport that flag on their trucks, or caps, or t-shirts. Do they have a problem with black people? NO! There are black people who have done more evil to me than any white person. THIS is my reality! Evil actions, evil mindsets, racism, and ignorance can be found in the minds of individuals in any and all cultures, races, and ethnicity. America just happens to be plagued more by the issues between black and white. Mankind just keeps dividing, separating, and filling the spaces between us with evil. All of it, hate, racism, and the divisions driven by such, IS EVIL!!! I'm not concerned about the flag. I'm concerned more about the hearts and minds of PEOPLE who feel it necessary to commit acts of violence based on the colors of the skins of individuals different from their own. Thinking that the removal of the confederate flag will make change, is like believing that if you close your eyes, you will become invisible.
Gay marriage.......SO WHAT?! If your neighbors are gay and married, how on earth does it affect YOU, YOUR house, YOUR heterosexual marriage or lifestyle?? Oh, maybe it's because they exhibit a love for one another that you WISH you had, with your STRAIGHT self?? People choose the lives they desire to live and I have no control over that. What I DO have control over is how I treat other people. The Bible thumpers like to make it Biblical. My Baby and I had a discussion on some of this, a week ago, Saturday morning. Yes, the Bible expresses what may be detestable to God. But if ANY man, woman, preacher, minister, or pastor takes it upon him/herself to condemn persons of the gay community, then they have discounted the Love of Christ and its power. Jesus Christ is the WORD made flesh. ALL scripture is summed up IN HIM! He came down, lived among us and served as our prime example of how God desires us to live and love. Those who condemn and persecute are the same wishy washy hypocrites found in the crowd, shouting "CRUCIFY HIM!!" Then, they said, "Give us Barabbas!", unleashing more murder and mayhem into the community. Assholes, I say!! Well, I guess that's the only place that produces the turds to cover in powdered sugar and honey, in the first place.
Folk want to talk about the sin of homosexuality, right? Well, why is it not such a big deal for fornicators to get married, adulterers to get married, pedophiles to get married, etc, etc.?? We all are people and want to live in peace, how we choose to live. It is NO ONE'S right to judge another. To condemn is to say, "Jesus don't love you!" We ALL know that's a lie!! We are SO DISTRACTED in this day and age by our own messy selves, ALWAYS in other people's business. In the meantime, while in other people's kool-aid, the neglected homes continue pumping out detriment to society. This was my FB post, a few days ago:
"We dig to discover. Let your excavation efforts be focused on the acreage of your own soul, first and foremost.......I promise you won't have time for the splinters in the eyes of others......"
I remember a conversation with a Pastor friend of mine, at Starbucks in Roebuck, AL years ago. There was a time when a young lesbian couple began attending his church. Some members, of course, had major problems with such. Pastor was asked what he planned to do about it. His simple response, "Love on 'em!" He went on to say, "That's what Jesus was about.......loving people WHERE THEY ARE!" If you truly claim to be Christian or Christ-like, then simply get on your job. If you've TRULY experienced the love of Christ, then you may know where I'm coming from. If you've not experienced it, pray to be blessed with it. If God recognizes me, as His child, then that's what I simply am. He knows as well as I, that I've got way more important things to be doing with my time, my heart, and my mind, than playing judge over people who have probably sinned way less than I have in this life. I'm just sayin.......
HAPPY MONDAY!! I LOVE YOU ALL, EACH AND EVERY ONE!!
