I needed something this morning to calm my stirring soul. I prayed for peace withing my mind and heart, looked at today's verse on biblegateway.com and read, "For there is one God and one mediator between God and mankind, the man Christ Jesus, who gave himself as a ransom for all people. This has now been witnessed to at the proper time." from 1 Timothy 2:5-6. I reached out to grab this Jesus, sitting at my fingers tips. I opened Him, and He led me directly to Himself, found in Psalm 64:
"Hear me, my God, as I voice my complaint;
protect my life from the threat of the enemy.
Hide me from the conspiracy of the wicked,
from the plots of evildoers.
They sharpen their tongues like swords
and aim cruel words like deadly arrows.
They shoot from ambush at the innocent;
they shoot suddenly, without fear.
They encourage each other in evil plans,
they talk about hiding their snares;
they say, 'Who will see it?'
They plot injustice and say,
'We have devised a perfect plan!'
Surely the human mind and heart are cunning.
But God will shoot them with his arrows;
they will suddenly be struck down.
He will turn their own tongues against them
and bring them to ruin;
all who see them will shake their heads in scorn.
All people will fear;
they will proclaim the works of God
and ponder what he has done.
The righteous will rejoice in the Lord
and take refuge in him;
all the upright in heart will glory in him!"
Sometimes, the Word is what you need the most when emotions are high and in contention with your spirit. Lord Jesus, just as you spoke to the stormy seas, speak to my heart, my soul, my body and mind today! Give me peace and clear eyes to see You all the better. Thank You, God, for THIS day! In Jesus' name, bless every heart, mind, soul, and life that's in need of You, Your Love, Your Power, Your Mercy, Your Grace, and Your Salvation. AMEN!

How many of you remember reading "The Odyssey" in school? Remember the sirens, who attracted men with their beautiful, sweet, hypnotizing songs? These victims were lured out of their places of safety, off into isolation where they were subsequently destroyed. As I was thinking about "the sirens" yesterday, I was reminded of a conversation T2 and I had last week, concerning Proverbs 9. The "woman folly" is much like these sirens. Check the verses: "Folly is an unruly woman; she is simple and knows nothing. She sits at the door of her house, on a seat at the highest point of the city, calling out to those who pass by, who go straight on their way, 'Let all who are simple come to my house!' To those who have no sense she says, 'Stolen water is sweet; food eaten in secret is delicious!' But little do they know that the dead are there, that her guests are deep in the realm of the dead."
This applies to both men and women. There are sirens all around us, especially in this society of social media. When "folly" calls out, all of a sudden the straight way has new "curves" and "v's" in the road. Yet, it is not the road that has changed. It's your view that has become distorted and warped, seeing more gray fog in which many get lost. Now that your sight is hindered, you depend on your hearing and feeling instead of your heart. The loudest voice you hear is sweet and seductive, so you move in its direction, never realizing that the only thing that awaits you on your newfound path is the edge of a cliff with nothing but jagged rocks below.
I've had my share of sirens in my life, and I know for a fact that the only thing a siren (he or she) has to offer is distraction, delay and the destruction for your life. God's way NEVER changes and NEVER leads one astray. God's way brings life, and life more abundantly (John 10:10). Again, God's Way is straight and leads directly to His own heart, by way of Jesus Christ, the most powerful name upon Whom we may call. When wrapped up in the smokey fog of a poor choices or confusion caused by surrounding sirens, cry out to Jesus! If it is truly salvation, redemption, love and peace that you seek for your life, your heart, your soul, your family, then cry out to Jesus! He will pierce through that thick fog like a needle through the skin, delivering insulin to the blood, beating that unruly blood sugar into submission! The power that exists in His name, is immense and unstoppable, yet it is only so when you allow Him entrance. Allow Him into your life, your heart, your mind and soul.

This thought came to me yesterday afternoon or evening, and was confirmed this morning by a text from a great friend and brother of mine. The text simply said, "Prov 17:17.....". It says, "A friend loves at all times, and a brother is born for a time of adversity." Upon receiving this message, I am compelled to share my thoughts of yesterday. I think about the blood and lives of my mother and father. In this matter, I think of myself as a culmination of greatness, and a conduit through which greatness flows on to my children. What I gain from my father's blood is a greater respect for equality in terms of race, along with the desire and drive to really look at people and study situations for what they truthfully are, beyond appearances. Who am I to disregard my almost 30% European heritage because America called me "black" when I was born? From my mother's life, I've learned that often times your find a greater family in those who are not related to you by blood, but are willing to take care of you and pour into you as if you were their own. David and Jonathan were an example of this.
Taking what I gain from the blood and lives of my parents, we teach our kids how to navigate and be safe in a society that judges by stereotype and assumption. On top of that, we teach them about love and how to respect others, no matter what. Also, looking at the blood and lives of my parents, in me, I see a cornucopia of culture, character, morals and values. I like to think that I am a good man and decent example for my kids, but I can't say that I got here on my own. I am grateful for my parents, their lives and blood. Being born of any others, who knows who or how I'd be today, or if I'd even be alive. I am also grateful for those friends, brothers, and sisters God has place along the way, who have been friends who love at all times and brothers/sisters born for times of adversity.
Williams, Corbin, Hampton, Hollomon, Coleman, Ducloux, and who knows what other lines, all pour into the man you see in me today. In addition to these many lines, I have friends who are bonded to me stronger than gorilla glue. Again, I am grateful to God for all in my life. There is only one word that can explain all this love, and only one word that can be called its source. The one Word is Jesus, Ultimate Love incarnate.

At some point, last weekend, Crimesha and I found ourselves talking about our rights to vote. I am not sure what started the conversation, but folks who choose not to vote were part of it. We talked about the importance of this simple right and how many people suffered and died so that folks of darker shades could have it. There is blood on our right to vote. American soil is fertilized by the blood of Native Americans who were said to be savages and uncivilized, along with the blood of Africans who were not even considered human. Therefore, the American dream and the freedom America claims to stand for is drenched in blood. Think about it. Think about history. Think about every conquest and "discovery" and land claim. Blood is everywhere. Various freedoms and rights we've claimed in life, in society, in this world, all came through the shedding of some blood. Yet, are we truly free?
Now, there is a freedom and right for which only One had to die. Jesus Christ shed blood for our freedom from sin, and for our right to the Kingdom of God. Imagine that. In all the history of wars and battles for territory and freedoms to only be corrupted by power, greed, and downright evil; none of it matters, when compared to the accomplishment of Christ. My life, my salvation from sin and my right to eternal life are all covered in the blood of Jesus Christ. I fully understand that without His sacrifice, life would be all that Solomon states long ago, VANITY! Many of us still forfeit our lives, our abilities, talents and gifts to the world, thinking that the world can preserve life and souls. Only God can do that. Vanity is a stronghold for a lot of us. We turn to it before we even consider looking in God's direction. Turning to the world instead of God is like the folks who don't vote, yet expect changes in their favor.
When pondering your own life, consider the blood that was shed for you to even have it.

LET THEM HERE THAT THE BLOOD OF JESUS IS THE ONLY SHED BLOOD THAT OFFERS SALVATION AND ETERNAL LIFE!!
I celebrate Mother's Day twice a year; the second weekend in May and today, March 22nd. Today is my Mother's birthday. I won't tell her age but she has been around longer than I, and has gained and imparted much wisdom over the years. A couple of days ago, while in a workshop, I met a young lady who grew up in Chicago, around the same time has my Mom. Our conversation made me really take a look at how my Mother grew up, the times, the conditions, the struggles, and the hell that the south side of Chicago had to offer from time to time.
You have to be a person of super strong mental fortitude and have an unquenchable fire of a will to make it out of what Elaine C. Williams had to endure as a child and teenager. My Mother's story ain't pretty, but you'd NEVER know unless she tells you. She chose NOT to allow her circumstances to define her, who she intended to be, or her future. The ghettos of America tend to be barrels of crabs, for some, but my Mother was a fierce eagle in comparison to those circumstances.
I thank God for all who played a part in my Mother's education, growth, and acquiring the wings that carried her out; those who motivated her, encouraged her, and showed her today while living in yesterday. As an grown "a" man with knowledge and a bit of wisdom, I am able to see that I'd likely not be the man I am today, had I belonged to a different Mother. Therefore, I am EVER grateful for my Ma. Thank You, Lord, for this woman!
HAPPY BIRTHDAY MA!! I LOVE YOU ALWAYS AND FOREVER!!
The song, "Thin Line Between Love and Hate" was on my mind this morning for whatever reason. The group that sang this song back in the day was The Persuaders. So, let me persuade you all of something this morning. The lines that separate and divide are always thin. Think about it. Think about the borders between states. They all boil down to thin lines. Even if it's a river that divides one place from another, maps will show you a thin, dotted/dashed line that splits even the river. The line that divides Mobile County an Baldwin County, back home, is a thin line, running down the middle of Mobile Bay. Thin lines.
What I need you all to see and understand is that when it's time to make changes for the better in your life, the line that separates here from there is thin, very thin. It's so thin, you literally cannot see it. Better, for any and all lives, is Jesus Christ. As satan would have it, many of us believe that there is a strong barrier between sin and salvation. Evil would have you to believe that borders between right and wrong are miles wide, and getting right with God is a long drive that you may not complete. We feel that before we can go to church, return to church, or seek Jesus, we must first wash up. To say such is like me saying that before I shower, I need to shower. The thin line between sin and salvation is simply Jesus. Say it! "JESUS!!"
Barriers and borders that separate us from God, are all mental. A clear, thin line was drawn in the sand ages ago. His name is Jesus, Savior of all who believe. Dear God, touch the hearts, minds, and souls of all who read this today. Bless them with discernment, to know You better and to understand Your will for their lives. Give them that seek You the boldness to call on Jesus' name and be saved! Lord God, You are Almighty, Merciful, and Forgiving. Move in our hearts today, so that Your Son, Jesus, may be seen by those in need. Let us be beacons of Light, Hope, and Love, drawing more and more into Your arms and refuge. Thank You Lord for this day and all days You see fit for us to continue living. We love You God! We thank You God! In Jesus' name, Amen!!
"By the seventh day, God had finished the work He had been doing; so on the seventh day He rested from all His work. Then God blessed the seventh day and made it holy, because on it He rested from all the work of creating He had done." This verse is found in the book of beginnings, Genesis. We tend to look at the number seven as the representative of completion and perfection. The number six popped into my head last night, in reference to imperfect man. Man was created on the sixth day, one day short of completion/perfection.
Often times, we carry on as though we are greater than what we truly are, incapable of mistakes, incapable of falling short, better than others, etc. Perfect, man will never be. I believe that the design was for man to forever be reliant on God for all the missing pieces, all the understanding, knowledge and wisdom needed to navigate life on this planet. Unfortunately, we were coaxed at a very young age to stray away from proper order and protocol. Learning about our ancestors often helps us to understand ourselves, and we all belong to Adam & Eve.
With that being said, we are all human, the longest day away from perfection. The number six is representative of this. It represents our human factors of unruly emotions, the constant battle between flesh and spirit, the eternal struggle between heart and mind, and all other things fighting for exterior recognition (pride, envy, jealousy, love, kindness, forgiveness, grace, mercy, hate, etc.). Your six is Satan's only attack point. He cannot touch or harm your soul, but he can mess with your mind enough to get some poison down into your spirit, gradually breaking you down to a point you feel down is the only and best way to go, and serving selfish ego is all that is necessary in life.
Think about it. Some of the worst things we've ever done and said, I'm sure, had some unchecked emotions involved. Ego and pride, fed by such emotion can't do any of us any good. Any regret felt in or after such moments should serve as a reminder to you of the Seven Who is ever present and ready to help, if only you, "who are called by His name, will humble yourself and pray and seek His face and turn from your wicked ways, then He will hear from Heaven, and He will forgive your sin and will heal your land (2 Chronicles 7:13-14)." God knows you are imperfect and He knows above all else, you will make mistakes. Satan would have you give up and claim the title of "failure", "lost", and "irreconcilable." It's just his way. Yet, GOD SITS HIGHER!! GOD SITS HUGER!! All you have to do is look up and cry out, "GOD! I'M SORRY FOR MY SIN AND SHORTCOMINGS! I WANT TO DO BETTER BUT I NEED HELP! I COME TO YOU NOW, A BELIEVER IN YOU, YOUR LOVE, GRACE AND MERCY! I BELIEVE YOU SET THE PLAN OF JESUS IN MOTION EVEN BEFORE THE DAY MANKIND FELL! YOU SENT JESUS TO REDEEM US LORD! THIS I KNOW! SEND JESUS MY WAY, GOD! FOR I GIVE MY LIFE TO HIM, MY LORD AND SAVIOR!! AMEN!"
My best coaching on minding your six, comes in the words of the Apostle Paul, "Finally, be strong in the Lord and in His mighty power. Put on the full armor of God, so that you can take your stand against the devil’s schemes. For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms. Therefore put on the full armor of God, so that when the day of evil comes, you may be able to stand your ground, and after you have done everything, to stand. Stand firm then, with the belt of truth buckled around your waist, with the breastplate of righteousness in place, and with your feet fitted with the readiness that comes from the gospel of peace. In addition to all this, take up the shield of faith, with which you can extinguish all the flaming arrows of the evil one. Take the helmet of salvation and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God. And pray in the Spirit on all occasions with all kinds of prayers and requests. With this in mind, be alert and always keep on praying for all the Lord’s people. Pray also for me, that whenever I speak, words may be given me so that I will fearlessly make known the mystery of the gospel, for which I am an ambassador in chains. Pray that I may declare it fearlessly, as I should."

God and get to us quicker and easier when we eliminate unnecessary distractions, baggage, and barriers that we allow to accumulate around us.......
Driving home earlier this evening, Tab Benoit was on my Albert King station, talking about some "There's too many dirty dishes, in the sink for just us two. I say there's too many dirty dishes, baby in the sink for just us two. Well you got me wonderin' baby, who's makin' dirty dishes with you." Considering the way my mind works, can you guess where I'm about to run off to with this thought?
God gives us One dish, and upon that dish, we are served His powerful, life-sustaining, all we ever need, Word; Jesus Christ. I can imagine God coming home from work questioning all the dishes in some of our sinks, kinda like Tab questioning his woman. "I know I left you plenty of Word, so you shouldn't be THAT hungry," God says. He then looks to the counter and sees His Word, only half consumed. Turning back to the sink, examining the dishes closely, He see pride juice on one plate, sticky fornication residue in one bowl, and greed crumbs scattered all over. Disappointed, yet Graceful and Merciful, He forgives you, corrects you, admonishes you, rids your home of the nasty dishes, and gives you another clean plate of the whole Word.
Now, the question God has for each of us everyday is this: "Who/What are we letting into our homes?" What plates of peril are we accepting from neighbors who don't necessarily mean us good, and don't really respect our God or our relationship with Him. Failure often comes, wearing a friendly face. Temptation often arrives as harmless as, "can I borrow a cup of sugar?" When too many dishes are allowed in the kitchen, confusion comes about, and Chef Ego tells you to keep bringing in more and more. For his feast is plentiful. While you are trying to keep up, he is steadily pushing God's plate, full of Word, farther and farther away from you.
God gave us One plate with One eternal meal on it. Who do your extra dishes belong to?
Those who have ears for this off-the-wall ramble, Lord, let them hear.......
Something I learned early on, in my spiritual journey, is that our young men, our sons are under constant attack. Think about it, the best approach to household disruption and destruction is to take out the head. If allowed, satan fills the heads of young men to the point, reputation and how they are perceived by their peers, become of utmost importance to them. The god "tough", the god "I got all the women", the god "I got all the money", and the god "I'll kill him/her who belittles or embarrasses me in public" take over when pride is given permission to do as it pleases. Once pride is in control, money and sex become fuel.
If we, the parents, are not pouring the right things into the minds and hearts of our kids from birth, we risk leaving them open and easy prey to a satanic society's influence, that grips like Kung Fu. As a kid, I had repeated dreams of my eldest brother dying violently, at the hands of police or gang violence. This is the first time I've ever shared this, but I would often wake from these dreams in tears and go check on my big bro to make sure he was still breathing. As a grown man and father, I had several dreams of losing my son in various ways while he was still a toddler. Such has made me psychotically protective, not only of my son, but also my daughters. I think that in reviewing these dreams, I see God highlighting the Truth I share in this post.
Our sons are under attack. They are being led astray by so much bull and nonsense that this world has to offer. Again, if we are not inoculating them with sound godly teachings, then they will suffer infection. The world is perfectly fine with our boys never growing up to be respectable, respectful men. The world is okay with us not providing the rod when necessary, parents not setting their boys straight when they talk back, allowing boys to stay in the house playing games all day rather than putting them to work in the yard (Self Conviction Right There), and raising them to be wusses, cry babies and brats. Why? Because allowing these things prevents good and strong men from being unleashed on this world of chaos and misdirection. Some may hate this next statement, but compare the caliber of men playing in the NBA, up to the early 90's to that of now. It is what it is. Better yet, it is what we allow.
When we fail to hold our boys accountable to the things that make them men, we end up with aged boys, responsible for things over which they've never known how to be responsible. We never see them get to that point where Paul says in 1 Corinthians 13, "When I was a child, I talked like a child, I thought like a child, I responded like a child. When I became a man, I put the the ways of childhood behind me." Godly men are needed more and more each day, before we all die and go on, leaving this world to a lesser number of us. Ultimately, we need to be and do better about leading our boys to Christ, the Hope for us all. That's it: Jesus!
