As I washed out my coffee cup this morning, this is what lit up in my mind like a flaming bush in the center of a field in the darkest of night. I don't always "wash" my coffee cup. Most mornings, after I recover it from wherever I left it the day before, I just rinse a little and wipe it down with a paper towel. It's not like I'm gonna catch something from myself, that I don't already have.......like diabetes or something. I am 100% certain and confident that my coffee cup is not going to harm me when I choose not to soap it down before every use. There are no doubts or second thoughts when it comes to this practice.
This is the same approach I take with God; no doubts, no second thoughts. I have absolute confidence in God and that His Will for my life is not one of harm. I am confident that my writing ability is a gift given me to serve Him. I am, in a sense, His coffee cup. Though I'm not spotless, He pours into me daily, confident that His Word in me will not return to Him void, without accomplishing what He sent it to do. For He says, in Jeremiah 29:11, "For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future." Furthermore, "As the rain and the snow come down from heaven, and do not return to it without watering the earth and making it bud and flourish, so that it yields seed for the sower and bread for the eater, so is my word that goes out from my mouth: It will not return to me empty, but will accomplish what I desire and achieve the purpose for which I sent it," God says in Isaiah 55.
So what if there is a little sin residue, dried at the bottom of the coffee cup of your heart and soul? God STILL pours His Word into us, fresh, hot, and rejuvenating. Trust in Him, for He is God!! He knows what He is doing, and whatever He puts into us WILL at some point accomplish His Will, His purpose. If you need a reminder of who God is, PLEASE read Job, chapters 38 through 41. After that, take a gander at Isaiah 40. "Do you not know? Have you not heard??" He had me at "I AM!" GOD IS GOD!!
Lord God, Creator of all life, thank you for this day! You had me at "I AM!" Thank you for the lives we are blessed to have. For as long as there is breath in our lungs, we have more opportunity to serve and praise Your name. Elihu said it best, "If it were His intention and He withdrew His Spirit and breath, all humanity would perish together and mankind would return to dust." God, Your Word I believe! Your Word, I believe to be life! I love You, Lord and I am grateful that You have been so good to me and my loved ones. Touch our hearts this day with You. Open the hearts, minds, and souls of the readers in ways like never before. Allow them to fully feel Your Word, Jesus Christ brewing in their beings, giving them new sight and vision, compassion, discernment and understanding. God, it is by Your Son, Jesus Christ and Him alone that any of us have been and can be saved. Your Word is Life God! I know no other way. Bless each and every reader with met needs today God. Give us this day our daily bread. Forgive us our trespasses as we forgive those who have trespassed against us. Soften our hardened hearts to receive, accept, and live by Your Word. Thank You God for Your blessing us with all our needs met. In Jesus' Name we pray. Amen!
