My best friend and I were talking recently about what a spouse should be. Yesterday, I tarried in Proverbs for the majority of the day and got a little bit into Ecclesiastes. I read a lot about friends, friendship, advisors, trustworthiness, and character. A spouse should be your BEST friend, MOST trusted advisor, and have character that you admire and would not mind having rub off on you. By God's design, your spouse SHOULD be closer to you than any other being on the planet. By God's design, blood is NOT thicker than water. I'm just sayin! BUT, in order for such relationship to exist, one must be yoked with the RIGHT one for him/her, by GOD'S design. "And the two shall become one.......", is what the Word says. The Word is definitely something with which I choose NOT to contend.
As I continued to tread the depths of my mind, concerning the scriptures, an image came to mind. The image was of my cousins Fred and Tracy, whom I met for the first time this past weekend. Their spirit, as one, is AWESOME! I loved watching them together, how they dealt with each other, and how they were with their kids. Prime illustration, I say, they are of what married folk should look like when together. Their hearts were written all over their faces, which were beset by a brilliant glow. I love them to life!!
God is good! If we allow Him to lead, He will most certainly provide us with the ONE He intends for us. KEEP IT UP, FRED AND TRACY!! Thank you for being an awesome example for me, my heart, and my spirit!! I love y'all!
HAPPY WEDNESDAY!!! I LOVE YOU ALL, EACH AND EVERY ONE!!!
Thinking of my children, as I often do, I know that it is my job, my duty, my mission to be sure that they have EVERYTHING they need in order to become solid, strong, mature, intelligent, respectable, respectful, godly adults. Then, I thought about how many parents fall short and even sometimes give up on their youngans. Somewhere along the way, the teaching stops. The discipline tapers off, and the motivation to FULLY provide, dies.
"Full Tanks" comes to mind. We must keep our kids' tanks full at all times, NEVER letting them go empty. This is what I mean. Imagine giving your children destinations and missions the lie hundreds of miles away, but only putting $10 in the tank. They are certain to fail and find themselves stranded along the highways of life. When our kids lay out their hearts' desires and their dreams of their futures to be, we MUST get the right fuel and pour it into them constantly and consistently! DO NOT let them leave home on empty or almost empty tanks!!
We believe "the children are our future" yet WE, parents, have EVERYTHING to do with the future that our children will be!! Speaking with a good friend today brings this into perspective for me. She is a single mother of two. I hear and see how she keeps herself on the back-burner while spending every ounce of her energy on providing for, and pouring her ALL into her children's passions. I commend her motivation, her drive and her commitment. I've seen single Dads out there too, doing all and the best they can to be sure that their youngans are on the right tracks. Yes, I have much love and respect for the married folks too, who have been amazing examples and providers for their babies! These props are for ALL GOOD PARENTS out there!! Most of all, I am grateful for Winston S. and Elaine C. being the parents they are to me and my brothers. I like to think they've done an AWESOME job!!
Again, IT'S ON US, THE PARENTS to provide the future with its leaders, problem solvers, and teachers of GOOD moral standing. For the parents who struggle with this, PLEASE reach out for guidance! Let someone know and don't be too ashamed! Our kids are way more valuable and important than our pride! The world is truly ON US!!
HAPPY TUESDAY Y'ALL!!! I LOVE YOU ALL, EACH AND EVERY ONE!!!!
Truth steps out onto to the stage, to give his monologue. His supporters, boosters, and Peters wait patiently for their parts, yet their eyes are fixed on the audience. They await a response to Truth's performance. Truth continues in flawless eloquence, as interested eyes turn to angry. Truth's support misses all their cues as they focus on the furled brows, and malicious murmurs beginning to ripple through the pond of people, as Truth continues tossing mirror like pebbles.
The crowd becomes hostile, as Truth never seems to end. Truth's co-stars have now exited the building, for fear of the crowd. Truth is left, as he has been in all his existence, ALONE!
How many of you have ever been THAT one? How many of you have been THE person willing to stand for truth, no matter what the crowd or world thinks? At work, at home, in the neighborhood, at church, we are or have been one of the representations illustrated above. Are you the Truth? Are you the sell-out friends of the Truth? Are you the crowd that hates and despises the Truth?
Take time to TRULY think about where you stand? In Truth, it's either all out, or all in. Lukewarm is like living in a dumpster, wondering why everyone you invite over turns their noses up and refuses to stay for more than a few seconds at a time.
God is Truth. By and in Him is the best place to stand. To stand anywhere else is to choose to be the grass, rather than the lawn mower.
A Truth of which we all should have knowledge:
"You are of God, little children, and have overcome them, because He who is in you is greater than he who is in the world." - 1John 4:4 -
Truth does not have very many dedicated friends in this day and age, but that, in no way, diminishes ANY of His power, importance, or significance. We tend to have closet relationships with Truth, Who is never reluctant to take the stage alone.......
HAPPY WEDNESDAY Y'ALL!! I LOVE YOU ALL, EACH AND EVERY ONE!!!
P.S. "Only fear the Lord, and serve Him in Truth with all your heart; for consider what great things He has done for you." - 1Samuel 12:24 -
"Love the Lord your God and keep his requirements, his decrees, his laws and his commands always. Remember today that your children were not the ones who saw and experienced the discipline of the Lord your God: his majesty, his mighty hand, his outstretched arm; the signs he performed and the things he did in the heart of Egypt, both to Pharaoh king of Egypt and to his whole country; what he did to the Egyptian army, to its horses and chariots, how he overwhelmed them with the waters of the Red Sea as they were pursuing you, and how the Lord brought lasting ruin on them. It was not your children who saw what he did for you in the wilderness until you arrived at this place, and what he did to Dathan and Abiram, sons of Eliab the Reubenite, when the earth opened its mouth right in the middle of all Israel and swallowed them up with their households, their tents and every living thing that belonged to them. But it was your own eyes that saw all these great things the Lord has done." (Deuteronomy 11:1-7)
How much do your kids know about what you know?
We've touched on this subject several times before, but think about it some more!! Our kids knew NOTHING of this world or of God's presence in it or in our lives until we began to speak to them!! If the first seeds to swan dive off the tips or your tongues were of bullmess and nonsense, then you got your youngans off to a BAD start at life. Our kids learn what to do, what to say, how to live, what to value, and how to behave from US, first and foremost!
We should have been praying for our Babies at the times we first knew of their coming. Once here, if anything, we should have been telling them at least a little about God, Who He is, and of His GREAT importance to all life. If such is not done, then we set our kids up to worship all sorts of other gods that exist in the world. It's amazing how many people teach their kids NOTHING of value to their essence, their souls, YET have nerve to pray for them, asking God to fix whatever needs fixing. When those prayers are done, they go right back to NOT teaching and will say, "God's got it!" YES, GOD has it ALL but when GOD gives us children, it is OUR responsibility to BE the tools He uses to "FIX" whatever is wrong.
BOTTOM LINE (Before I Ramble On......):
GOD IS THE OWNER! WE ARE THE COACHES! OUR CHILDREN ARE THE PLAYERS! WE WILL NEVER WIN THIS GAME WHILE CALLING ALL THE WRONG PLAYS, NOT PRACTICING, NOT CONDITIONING, AND NOT TEACHING!!
HAPPY SATURDAY Y'ALL!! I LOVE ALL OF YA.......TO LIFE!!
